Summary:Petition of James Hunter and Thomas G. Harris in which they claim that the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company entered into a contract with them and others in September 1845 to complete the canal from Dam numbers 6 to Cumberland. After detailing the work they performed, they requested that the Maryland legislature authorize the company to issue additional bonds in order to complete the project without loss to the petitioners. The petition includes a supporting documents submitted by Nathan Hale, John Davis, and Horatio Allen, and a report from Charles B. Fisk, Chief Engineer of the canal company. The petition is addressed to the General Assembly of Maryland.
