By the Honourable James De Lancey, Esq; His Majesty's lieutenant governor and commander in chief, in and over the province of New-York ... A proclamation [microform] : Whereas our only refuge in times of public calamity and danger, is in the almighty power, wisdom, and goodness of God ... I have therefore thought fit, by and with the advice of His Majesty's Council, to order and appoint, and I do hereby order and appoint, that Friday the twelfth day of May next, be observed throughout this province, as a day of public humiliation, fasting and prayer ... Given under my hand and seal at arms, at Fort-George, in the city of New-York, the 14th day of April, one thousand seven hundred and fifty eight.
