Information from the questionnaires completed by 154 institutions is analyzed according to sample characteristics (age of population residing within institutions, and pre- and post-release services offered); release patterns (client age, level of retardation, and type of community placement); and the relationship between release patterns and such institutional characteristics as size and geographic location. Among findings summarized are that the most common type of community placement was natural/adoptive homes; and that larger institutions released a greater proportion of clients to group homes while smaller institutions more frequently chose natural/adoptive or foster homes.
