Description
Summary:In the spring of 1977, the University of Washington Faculty Senate revised the undergraduate admissions system to include equitable means for admitting freshmen and transfer students. Generally, the University adopted the position that it is the best qualified individuals who should be admitted, with best qualified being defined as those having the highest probability of achieving a University of Washington grade-point average of 2.00 or higher. Scores on a verbal-quantitative examination are required of all applicants (freshmen and transfer) unless they have 75 or more transferable college credits and their scholastic records yield a predicted grade-point average equal to or higher than the comparable median grade-point average. Ranking of applicants, in the event that the University is unable to accommodate all admissible applicants, is according to their predicted probabilities of obtaining a University grade-point average higher than 2.00.
