Summary: | This document presents a model for a simple transmission electron microscope for educational purposes. This microscope could demonstrate thermonic emission, particle acceleration, electron deflection, and flourescence. It is designed to be used in high school science courses, particularly physics, taking into account the size, weight, complexity and costs. It could also be built by any high school and would enable students to investigate electron optics. The report includes six chapters that cover the purpose, theory, design, construction and operation of the transmission electron microscope model. It also includes some diagrams and a component list. This project was funded by the Educational Research Institute of British Columbia (ERIBC) of Canada. (HM) |
