Summary: | Research described in this report compares the relative achievement of three groups of secondary school students beginning language instruction in German, French, and Spanish using the electronic classroom, the record-playback laboratory, and the broadcast language laboratory with that of a control group. The second major area of research concentrates on the role which interests and attitudes play in second-language learning. Teacher and student attitudes toward the media utilized are revealed through analysis of statistical results of attitudinal tests. Procedures employed in the experiment and results of the analysis of data bearing on the effectiveness of the equipment groups are detailed. Many tables, lists of figures, and a bibliography are included. For a related document see ED 037 103. (Author/RL) |
