| Summary: | The State University of New York College of Arts and Science at Geneseo administered the American Council on Education Student Information Form to the freshman class during the fall 1972. Data is provided concerning personal and family background, high school backgrounds, educational and vocational plans, and attitudes of both 3- and 4-year students. National norm data are presented based on the responses of freshmen at 246 4-year colleges, with responses weighted to provide a representative coverage of freshmen throughout the country. Results indicate: (1) Geneseo freshmen are a youthful group attending college directly from high school. They come from middle-class backgrounds from homes in which one or both parents have had some exposure to college. (2) There is a greater number of academically able males among 3-year students compared with males in the 4-year group of students or the national norms. (3) Three-year students tend to be more "liberal" and less "middle-of-the-road" than their local and national counterparts. (MJM) |
